Another Google update? Yep. On June 20, Google released the June 2024 Spam Update. Important to note: this update is not the Site Reputation Update targeting “Parasite SEO.” Google said the June update is, “a normal spam update” and not “the algorithmic part of reputation abuse.”

There’s been more data released showing Google has scaled back on using the AI Overview on the SERP. One study shows that, as well as the reduction in AI Overviews as a whole, Google has also reduced using Reddit within them. This aligns with data I pulled from Semrush which shows a slight reduction of Reddit URLs in the Discussion and Forums SERP feature.

Note, despite the reduction in AI Overviews (and chatter about their accuracy), Google has stated it’s still going full steam ahead on the AI front.

How to maintain consistent content marketing for clients—even when times are tough

Despite challenging market conditions, consistent content marketing is crucial for building trust and nurturing leads. Here’s how your agency can sustain content consistency for your clients with fewer resources:

Focus on high-ROI content: Identify and prioritize the content types most likely to generate the highest return on investment to get the most value from your resources. For instance, webinars, search-optimized blog posts and detailed case studies can result in significant engagement and lead-generation benefits.

Refresh existing content: Updating older articles with new information, refreshed graphics and the most up-to-date data can result in great SEO wins. Leveraging existing content investments reduces the need for constant new content creation.

Reduce frequency but maintain cadence: Publishing less frequently but on a consistent schedule is a great way to sustain audience engagement and search visibility. For example, you might reduce your publishing frequency from three times a week to once per week.

Repurpose content: Transform existing content into different formats, such as blog posts, infographics, videos and social media posts. This can help you maintain a consistent platform everywhere your customers hang out while maximizing the value of original content.
